State, City, and City Council Agree on Planning Process
The Mayor and City Council have approved The Unified New Orleans Plan, to be implemented by the Greater New Orleans Foundation with funds from the Rockefeller Foundation and the support of the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA). This development represents major progress because the state of Louisiana controls billions of dollars in block grants. Consequently, the LRA has the “power of the purse” to make our plans into reality. Note that the City Council’s planning process for flooded neighborhoods will be incorporated into the Unified Plan and City Council planners have begun to meet with our own Planning District 3 (see meeting schedule on the calendar and please attend!)
